It irritates me that the US doesn't get the AWD, but its existence probably helps make a proper 4x4 conversion easier.

I was disappointed when I was configuring my van that AWD was not an option. However, I figure if I am wealthy enough to pay 40k for a shell of a van, I can afford the 4x4 conversion (maybe).

I really don't like the new front end. The chrome chunkiness is so out of place on a Transit.

I'd prefer a black grille, that's for sure. I could life with that face though.

I prefer the more utilitarian look of the last generation. It just seems more honest, somehow.

I really dig the face on that one. For a work horse, I'd definitely want that model. The headlights are further back from the plastic bumper, the steel wheels, etc.

I feel like, in an effort to appeal to the American truck-buying public, Ford have tried to give the Transit a slightly less utilitarian image with the latest model. Going back to the Mark 1 in the sixties, they've been pure work vehicles, the practice of buying utility vehicles to use primarily as personal transport having never really caught on in Europe.

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

If it can tow the car trailer, while having bed / motorhome-type stuff, I will ditch the F-Series for a I5 diesel Transit.

I prefer the old one. This one seems entirely too European.

I've got a weird lust for a 5-door wagon equipped with the 1.6L Ecoboost motor.

I agree. I think that for the passenger van the new face was a necessity to attract the large families that are normally drawn to minivans.

I don't think its as European as the Promaster, but it's definitely not as handsome as the NV.
